AHSR™ For Homeowners

If your heating keeps failing despite repairs or flushing, this is the correct next step. Not another power flush, not another pipe replacement. An honest assessment to find out what is actually wrong with your system.

Why homeowners contact us

Most homeowners contact us after standard fixes have already been tried.

The issue is rarely a failed component. More often it is a system-level restriction or circulation problem that standard methods cannot address. AHSR is an assessment-led process designed specifically for this situation.

One or more of the following have often already been tried:

A power flush
Pump replacement
Radiator replacements
Multiple engineer visits

What AHSR addresses

A structured recovery process for systems standard methods can no longer resolve

Evidence-led, not assumption-based

Every AHSR engagement begins with a professional assessment. We evaluate what is actually happening in your system before deciding whether remediation is appropriate.

An honest verdict before expensive work

If recovery is not viable, we identify that at assessment, before any remediation cost is incurred. We will not present remediation as an option when replacement is the correct answer.

12-month warranty and full documentation

All remediation work is supported by a 12-month workmanship warranty and professional documentation. You receive a clear record of what was found, what was done, and what was verified.

Bonded and compacted contamination

Standard flushing removes loose debris. AHSR is designed for contamination that has bonded to internal surfaces, the type that routine intervention cannot dislodge.

Microbore and restricted pipework

Microbore systems are particularly vulnerable to internal restriction. AHSR's low-flow approach is specifically suited to systems where high-flow methods are ineffective or carry increased risk.

Sound familiar?

Still having problems after a power flush?

Homeowners typically contact us after flushing has already been carried out, radiators are still cold or slow to heat, circulation problems keep returning, and components have been replaced without improvement. Repeated intervention without improvement is a strong indicator of a system-level issue, not a component fault. In over 35 years working with heating systems across Scotland, that pattern almost always points to an underlying system condition that has not yet been properly assessed.

Understanding your options

System Flushing vs AHSR

Routine Power Flushing:

  • Maintenance-focused, designed for healthy systems
  • High-flow water and chemicals through open circuits
  • Removes loose debris and light contamination
  • Limited effectiveness in microbore pipework
  • Becomes less effective once restriction is bonded
  • Few options available if unsuccessful

Advanced Heating System Remediation:

  • Recovery-focused, designed for failing systems
  • Low-flow, assessment-led intervention
  • Addresses bonded and compacted internal contamination
  • Specifically suited to microbore and restricted pipework
  • Works where increased flow or pressure would increase risk
  • Clear pathway and honest verdict before any replacement decision

How it works

Assessment first. Remediation only if appropriate.

Every AHSR engagement begins with a dedicated system assessment. No remediation work is undertaken without it.

1

On-site system assessment (£290 + VAT)

We visit and carry out a full technical evaluation: checking flow at each radiator, temperature differentials, water condition, and circulation behaviour. The assessment fee is deducted from the remediation cost if work proceeds.

2

We tell you what we found and what we recommend

Following the assessment, we give you a clear verdict. If remediation is viable, we agree a scope and cost before any work begins. If another route is the right answer, we will tell you that honestly, with our findings documented.

3

A heating system your household can rely on

Where remediation is appropriate and you choose to proceed, we carry out the work and verify the result. The £290 assessment fee is deducted from the final cost. The goal is straightforward: a heating system that works properly again.

What we evaluate

What the assessment actually covers

Flow and circulation

We check flow characteristics at representative radiators across the system to understand where restriction exists and how severe it is.

Temperature differentials

We measure temperature differentials across circuits and emitters to identify imbalance, partial blockages, and heat transfer problems.

Water condition and contamination indicators

We examine the system water for signs of corrosion debris, magnetite contamination, degraded inhibitor protection, and long-term internal fouling.

Boiler or appliance heat exchanger performance

We evaluate how the appliance is interacting with the system to determine whether the problem lies within the pipework, the heat exchanger, or both.

What does this service not do?

Note 1

Guarantee recovery

Not every system can be recovered. If yours cannot, we confirm that at assessment, before any remediation cost is incurred. You will not be charged for work that did not proceed.

Note 2

Fix bad system design

If the root cause is poor design or incorrect specification rather than contamination, we will identify that and will not present remediation as the solution.

Note 3

Address component failure

AHSR is designed for internal contamination and restriction at a system level. If the issue is component failure or physical damage, that is confirmed at assessment and handled as a separate recommendation.

Why we assess first

Why an assessment is required before any work is agreed.

Every heating system behaves differently depending on pipework layout, contamination history, and appliance design. AHSR cannot be quoted without a professional on-site assessment to determine whether remediation is technically viable.

Assessment & Pricing

What does AHSR cost?

Pricing is determined after professional assessment, not estimated before attending.

Initial Assessment

£290 + VAT

Payable prior to attendance. Deducted from the remediation cost if work proceeds.

  • On-site technical assessment
  • Evaluation of system configuration and overall condition
  • Identification of circulation characteristics and internal restriction
  • Determination of whether remediation or replacement is the correct technical route
  • Full professional findings documented

Remediation Work

£950 – £3,500 + VAT

Where remediation is appropriate following assessment. Final cost agreed before work begins.

Pricing depends on:

  • System size and overall complexity
  • Degree and nature of restriction or contamination
  • Presence of microbore pipework
  • Access and circuit configuration
  • Time required for controlled, verification-led recovery
  • Whether targeted work is required on critical components such as boiler heat exchangers or heat pump plate heat exchangers

Systems with extensive microbore, complex zoning, multiple circuits, or typically 25+ radiators may fall outside this range and are assessed individually. Systems involving plate heat exchangers or heat pumps are priced separately See more.

What happens after the assessment?

Outcome 1

Remediation is viable

A defined remediation scope and cost are agreed before work proceeds. This may include targeted recovery of restricted heat exchangers where system conditions have affected performance.

Outcome 2

Partial or limited recovery is viable

Limitations and available options are clearly explained and documented.

Outcome 3

Recovery is not viable

Identified before disruption begins, avoiding unnecessary cost or invasive work.

Systems involving plate heat exchangers, particularly heat pumps, may require specialist assessment and dedicated recovery pricing. See our Heat Pump Plate Heat Exchanger Recovery page.

Service Coverage

Where we carry out AHSR

AHSR is delivered as a specialist, escalation-level service for complex and unresolved heating system conditions. Based in Scotland, we operate across mainland Scotland and island locations, with extended coverage into Northern England for specialist remediation cases. UK-wide enquiries are considered by prior arrangement.

All of ScotlandIncluding island locationsSelect English locations

Travel considered for exceptional cases outside these areas.

Before You Commit

Been told you need pipe replacement?

In many cases, poor circulation, cold radiators, and repeated faults are caused by internal restriction and long-term contamination, not failed pipework. Replacement is often recommended when routine methods have reached their limit, not because recovery has been properly assessed. An AHSR-led system assessment provides clarity before you commit to disruptive, irreversible, and expensive work.

Customer Reviews

Trusted by homeowners, engineers, and industry professionals alike

With over 35 years in the industry, we've built our reputation one resolved job at a time, across every level of the heating sector.

Professional and friendly father and son team. Highly recommended.

Professional and friendly father and son team. For us they have done boiler installations and provide ongoing servicing and maintenance. Also radiator power flush, and general problem solving and fixing of any plumbing issues. They also fitted new guttering on two properties. Good customer service. Highly recommended. Been a customer for over five years through various incarnations of the business.
