AHSR™ For Manufacturers and Technical Teams
Independent water-side system assessment and remediation support for appliance manufacturers, warranty reviewers, and technical escalation teams. Assessment-led, fully documented, and limited strictly to the heating water circuit.
What this service provides
Independent system-level support for manufacturers facing hydraulic performance issues
Assessment-led, independent evaluation
Every AHSR engagement begins with a structured on-site system assessment. No remediation is agreed or commenced without it. System condition is established independently before any intervention decision is made.
Manufacturer-safe operation throughout
All AHSR work is limited strictly to the sealed water circuit. No intervention is undertaken within combustion systems, refrigerant circuits, electrical assemblies, or manufacturer-sealed appliance components. Warranty-aware operation throughout.
Documentation suitable for technical review
All assessments and remediation work are formally documented. Findings may include system condition assessment, circuit-level observations, remediation record, verification outcomes, and a professional limitations statement suitable for warranty file support.
Water-side root cause identification
AHSR identifies contamination, oxygen ingress, magnetite, and hydraulic restriction within the distribution circuit. Where system condition is disputed, water is quantitatively analysed to support evidence-based technical decisions. This allows clear differentiation between appliance fault and system-driven performance limitation.
Applicable across heating technologies
AHSR applies where distribution-side hydraulic conditions are influencing appliance performance across heat pump systems, gas, oil and electric boilers. All assessment and remediation remain strictly limited to the water-side circuit. AHSR supports technical teams in determining whether appliance replacement is justified or whether system-level recovery should be considered first.
A system-level condition, not an appliance fault
Persistent performance issues where the appliance itself is operating correctly
Where an appliance is confirmed to be operating correctly, but system-level hydraulic conditions are causing circulation instability, nuisance faults, or repeated call-backs, routine servicing will not resolve the underlying issue. AHSR provides independent system-level assessment to establish whether the distribution circuit is contributing before warranty or replacement decisions are made.
Recognising the escalation point
Hydraulic System Flushing vs AHSR
Scenarios where independent system assessment adds value:
- Persistent circulation faults where the appliance has been confirmed as operational
- Repeated nuisance faults linked to flow instability or restriction
- Contamination identified at the appliance without full system assessment
- Warranty disputes where system condition has not been independently established
- Replacement recommendations without confirmed hydraulic root cause
- Legacy contamination within existing systems connected to new appliances
What AHSR provides to manufacturer technical teams:
- Independent water-side system assessment limited strictly to the distribution circuit
- Evidence-led determination of hydraulic restriction or contamination
- Controlled remediation where system recovery remains viable
- Full professional documentation suitable for warranty review and technical file support
- Manufacturer-safe operation with no interference within combustion systems, refrigerant circuits, or sealed components
- Clear outcome: viable, partially viable, or not appropriate
How manufacturer referrals work
Independent assessment before any system or warranty decision is made.
The AHSR assessment stage establishes system condition independently, defines technical boundaries, and determines whether remediation is appropriate. No remediation work is agreed or undertaken without it.
On-site technical assessment (£290 + VAT)
We attend the property and carry out a full independent technical evaluation, checking flow characteristics at representative radiators, temperature differentials across circuits and emitters, water condition indicators, and overall circulation behaviour. The assessment fee is deducted from the remediation cost if work proceeds.
Formal findings and independent verdict
Following assessment, we define one of three outcomes: AHSR remediation is viable and appropriate, targeted or partial intervention is available with documented limitations, or recovery is not technically supported and system replacement or alternative escalation is the appropriate route. All findings are formally recorded and provided to the referring party.
Remediation and verification, or documented findings
Where remediation is appropriate and agreed, work proceeds within the defined scope. The £290 assessment fee is deducted from the final cost. All work is returned with a complete professional documentation set suitable for manufacturer warranty review, technical file support, and independent system records.
Scope of water-side assessment
System types and application areas
Microbore circuit assessment
Microbore systems are particularly vulnerable to internal restriction, bonded deposits, and progressive circulation loss. The low-flow, high-head methodology is specifically suited to these systems, where standard high-flow flushing is ineffective or carries increased risk to connected appliances.
Gas and oil boiler systems (water-side only)
Where internal contamination has affected boiler performance via the water-side circuit, AHSR may include water-side assessment and remediation as part of a wider system evaluation. No disassembly or interference with combustion components, sealed heat exchangers, burners, or manufacturer-protected internals is undertaken.
Heat pump systems (water-side only)
Where restricted circulation or internal contamination within the heating distribution circuit is affecting heat pump performance, AHSR may be applied to the water-side components. Refrigerant circuits, compressors, controls, and manufacturer-sealed components are not accessed or disturbed.
Electric boiler systems (water-side only)
Where electric boilers are connected to existing wet distribution systems affected by contamination or restriction, AHSR may be applicable to the water-side circuit. All intervention is limited strictly to the sealed water circuit.
Professional boundaries
Note 1
Does not guarantee recovery
Not every system can be recovered. Where assessment indicates recovery is not technically appropriate, this is confirmed before any remediation proceeds. No remediation work is undertaken or charged where viability has not been established at assessment.
Note 2
Does not override manufacturer guidance or warranty conditions
All work is undertaken within applicable standards, material compatibility limits, and manufacturer requirements. AHSR does not modify, disassemble, or interfere with combustion components, refrigerant circuits, electrical internals, or manufacturer-sealed elements.
Note 3
Independent escalation, not a replacement for manufacturer procedures
AHSR operates as an independent system-level escalation service and does not represent, replace, or override manufacturer service procedures. Where manufacturer technical procedures are applicable, they take precedence.

Assessment and Pricing
What does AHSR cost?
Pricing is determined after professional assessment. A clear cost is agreed before any remediation work proceeds.
Initial Assessment
£290 + VAT
Payable prior to attendance. Deducted from the remediation cost if work proceeds.
- On-site independent technical assessment
- Flow characteristics and circulation behaviour evaluation
- Identification of restriction type, severity, and distribution
- Water condition indicators and contamination assessment
- Formal findings documenting system condition and hydraulic recoverability
Remediation Work
£950 – £3,500 + VAT
Where remediation is appropriate following assessment. Final cost agreed before work begins.
Pricing depends on:
- System size and overall complexity
- Degree and nature of restriction or contamination
- Presence of microbore pipework
- Access and circuit configuration
- Time required for controlled, verification-led recovery
- Whether targeted work is required on critical components such as boiler heat exchangers or heat pump plate heat exchangers
Systems with extensive microbore, complex zoning, multiple circuits, or typically 25+ radiators may fall outside this range and are assessed individually. Systems involving plate heat exchangers or heat pumps are priced separately See more.
Assessment outcomes
Outcome 1
AHSR remediation is viable
A defined remediation scope and cost are agreed before work proceeds. This may include targeted recovery of restricted heat exchangers where system conditions have affected performance. The £290 assessment fee is deducted.
Outcome 2
Partial or targeted intervention is viable
Limitations and available options are clearly documented. Scope is agreed before any work begins.
Outcome 3
Recovery is not technically appropriate
Confirmed at assessment stage with professional findings recorded. Identified before any remediation cost is incurred.
Systems involving plate heat exchangers, particularly heat pumps, may require specialist assessment and dedicated recovery pricing. See our Heat Pump Plate Heat Exchanger Recovery page.
